Controlled Collapse
**Place the charges. Time the delays. Bring it down for less than it pays.**
On your first day with a demolition crew, the boss tells you to wait for three blasts on her horn before you push the button. You don't wait. The smokestack goes the wrong way, straight through the warehouse next door, and now you owe her $10,000.
Controlled Collapse is a demolition business sim in the spirit of the old DOS classics. Take a contract, study the structure, put charges on the columns and walls, set the firing order, and press the button. Then pay the bill: hauling rubble, cleaning the street, the neighbors' damage claims, and the fine if the seismograph next door goes over its limit.
**What's in it**
- **24 buildings, and each one comes down differently.** Tool sheds, farmhouses, row houses, a smokestack, a movie palace, a grain elevator, a lighthouse on the harbor wall, an air traffic control tower, a county hospital, a cooling tower, a stadium and a steel truss bridge over a river.
- **Structural rules you can learn.** Cut every column on a floor and it drops. Cut one side and it falls that way. Miss one and the floors above stay up.
- **Four kinds of charge** for timber, brick, concrete and steel, plus ten firing delays and a vibration limit set by whoever lives next door.
- **Surveys that find what the drawings missed:** old-growth oak posts, steel jackets on columns, a hidden column behind the cladding.
- **A story mode.** Work off your debt as Marta's apprentice, then start your own company and find her bidding against you.
- **Upgrades that change how you play:** a torch crew that pre-cuts columns, a high-reach excavator, a drill rig for tamped charges, and electronic detonators.
- **Three landmark contracts,** ending with a 96 m skyscraper that has to come straight down between two occupied towers.
- **Saves to a file,** so you can back up your company and carry on from any computer.
**How to play**
It runs in your browser on desktop or mobile, with mouse or touch. Hover over any part of a building to see what it's made of and whether your charge will break it.
Keyboard shortcuts: 1 to 4 pick a charge, B places a debris barrier, E removes, R toggles the whole row, X hides cladding, and once you own them, P is pre-cut and M is the excavator.
A full career takes about two to three hours, and the job board keeps filling after that.
Your progress saves in your browser automatically. Use "Save to a file" in the office for a backup.

If you guys have any comments about this game, I think it has some elements that expand the legacy of this format. I think the biggest is the vibration monitor that forces you to time charges so you don't have too much going off at anyone time.
